Arab Federation for Digital Economy — Official Website

Arab Federation for Digital Economy — Official Website

WebsitesWebsiteCompletedFeatured

Official bilingual website for an international Arab organization specializing in the digital economy — featuring dozens of pages and specialized sections for managing programs, initiatives, news, publications, and events. Built entirely with WordPress while employed at NITBee.

The Arab Federation for Digital Economy is an international Arab organization dedicated to developing the digital economy across Arab nations through unified strategies and transformative initiatives supporting sustainable digital transformation. The federation encompasses member states, bodies, and Arab and international organizations, working to establish shared technical and regulatory standards, measure Arab digital performance, and develop integrated regional digital policies.

The federation manages a broad portfolio of programs and initiatives including: the Arab Vision for the Digital Economy (50 initiatives), the Arab Digital Economy Index, the Arab Digital Award, the edu4arab.org education platform, the arabfoodhub.com Arab food market, the Digital Economy Magazine, an open data portal, and a research and knowledge center.

While employed at NITBee Software Development, I took full ownership of building the federation's official website — design and development — using WordPress with a custom-built theme, dozens of detailed pages, and a professional bilingual content management system supporting both Arabic and English.

Challenges

  • Large-Scale Content Architecture: Building a logical, navigable information structure for a website spanning dozens of pages and multiple distinct content types (programs, initiatives, reports, events, news, partners) without the site becoming overwhelming or disorienting to visitors.
  • Bilingual Content Management at Scale: Translating and managing dozens of pages, articles, and programs across both languages while maintaining content consistency between versions — with full RTL compliance for the Arabic interface.
  • Diverse Custom Content Types: Each section (programs, initiatives, reports, events, partners, awards) requires entirely different data fields — demanding precise Custom Post Type architecture and complex, flexible ACF field group design.
  • International Organization Standards: The client is a high-profile international organization with rigorous expectations regarding visual identity, professional presentation, and UI consistency — leaving zero margin for design or rendering errors.
  • Performance with Heavy Content: Maintaining acceptable load speed across a content-rich site with large volumes of pages, images, downloadable publications, and archive views.

Solution

  • Fully Custom WordPress Theme: Developed a theme from scratch built on a modular architecture using PHP Template Parts and ACF Blocks — rather than relying on pre-built themes — providing complete flexibility in layout and design with each section independently tailored to its requirements.
  • WPML + Custom Post Types + ACF: WPML for efficient bilingual translation management, Custom Post Types for each content category (Program, Initiative, Report, Event, Partner, etc.), and Advanced Custom Fields to build precise, flexible field structures serving each content type's specific needs.
  • Hierarchical Navigation Architecture: Designed a multi-level navigation menu reflecting the organization's hierarchical structure, with a Mega Menu providing rapid access to all primary and secondary sections from any page.
  • Performance Optimization: Applied image Lazy Loading, WordPress Object Caching, CSS/JS minification and concatenation, and CDN delivery for static assets — maintaining acceptable load speed despite the content-heavy nature of the site.
  • Full RTL Support: Built and maintained a dedicated, carefully crafted RTL stylesheet ensuring a fully correct Arabic experience with no layout breaks or visual inconsistency between the Arabic and English interfaces.

Results & Outcomes

  • A large-scale, complete official website accurately reflecting the standing of a high-profile international Arab organization.
  • Dozens of detailed pages in both Arabic and English with full RTL compliance.
  • A flexible, comprehensive CMS enabling the federation's team to independently manage all sections without technical assistance.
  • Custom Post Types for every section: programs, initiatives, reports, events, partners, and awards.
  • A fully custom WordPress theme aligned with the federation's official visual identity.
  • Fast, fully responsive website optimized for all devices and search engines.
  • A professional user experience serving a diverse audience: officials, researchers, partners, and media.

Case Study

Project Overview

While employed at NITBee Software Development, I was assigned to build the official website for the Arab Federation for Digital Economy — a high-profile international Arab organization with broad regional presence and partnerships with UN bodies including ESCWA. This project stood among the most significant institutional engagements I worked on, requiring the development of a large-scale digital platform that reflects the federation's institutional weight and serves a diverse audience of officials, researchers, and partners across the Arab world and internationally.

Project Scale & Pages

The website is substantial in content scope — spanning dozens of detailed pages distributed across multiple primary sections:

  • Organization & Governance: General Assembly, Board of Directors, Advisory Council, Specialized Committees.
  • Membership & Partnerships: Membership types, strategic partnerships, MoUs with international organizations.
  • Programs & Initiatives: Arab Vision for the Digital Economy (50 initiatives), Arab Digital Economy Index, Arab Digital Award, Regional Programs.
  • Digital Projects: edu4arab.org education platform, arabfoodhub.com Arab food market, Innovation Incubators.
  • Knowledge Center: Studies and reports, working papers, analytical articles, Digital Economy Magazine, open data portal, video library, podcasts.
  • Services: Consulting, capacity building, digital tools, public policy support.
  • Media: Federation news, infographics, digital blog, events calendar, press coverage.

Content Management System

I built the site on WordPress with a fully custom theme aligned with the federation's visual identity, WPML for high-efficiency bilingual content management, and Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) to create flexible field structures serving dozens of different content types (programs, initiatives, news, reports, events, partners, and more). This combination enabled the federation's team to independently manage a large, complex content ecosystem with no technical intervention required.
